Sambursky Esthetics Dermaplaning

Some of our most common patient concerns are fine lines and wrinkles, visible acne scars, and sun damage. That’s why Sambursky Esthetics offers dermaplaning, a quick and safe treatment that addresses these concerns and gives your skin a smoother and brighter appearance with a single visit!

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive, low-risk esthetic procedure that effectively removes built-up dead skin cells and vellus hairs (peach fuzz) for glowing, silky skin. Most blemishes and discoloration exist in the topmost layer of skin, allowing us to smooth out bumps and wrinkles on the skin’s surface for a brighter complexion.

During our dermaplaning treatments, one of our licensed estheticians uses a medical-grade blade to gently scrape against the surface of the skin at a 45-degree angle. When completed by a skilled professional, dermaplaning is exceptionally effective at clearing out dead skin and imperfections for completely natural-looking rejuvenation.

The procedure is typically finished in just 30 minutes and has little to no downtime, meaning you can improve your acne scars, wrinkles, or sun damage in under a day!

Are You a Candidate for Dermaplaning?

Most people seeking to reduce acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, or sun-damaged skin are ideal candidates for dermaplaning! It’s safe for nearly all skin types so long as the patient doesn’t have inflammatory skin conditions like active acne, psoriasis, and eczema.

We suggest the following methods to prepare for a dermaplaning treatment:

  • Avoid exfoliating for at least three days prior
  • Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face
  • If you are sunburnt or have active acne or another skin condition, check with your doctor before booking an appointment

During a consultation with Sambursky Esthetics, one of our skincare experts will determine how we can personalize your dermaplaning procedure, or combine it with related esthetic treatments, to help you get the younger, refreshed skin you’ve been waiting for!

Dermaplaning FAQs

How long do the effects of dermaplaning last?

Results typically last for three to four weeks as dead skin begins to build up again. However, since it is a noninvasive procedure, it can also be redone three to four weeks after your last treatment!

When will I see results?

Your skin will look smoother and brighter immediately after your first dermaplaning session. However, even better results occur after a series of treatments over several weeks.

Can I get a dermaplaning treatment the day before a big event?

Since dermaplaning requires virtually no downtime, it can be done leading up to a big event as a quick fix to remove dead skin and peach fuzz. This will also allow skincare products to penetrate deeper and makeup to sit more smoothly on the skin!

Does dermaplaning hurt?

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure that uses feather-light strokes to gently remove hair and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. It can be more comfortable than other forms of hair removal.

What are the side effects of dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is low-risk and has little to no side effects. You may experience slight redness for one to three days following your treatment, or less commonly, minor nicks from the blade. Within one to two days of the treatment, some people with sensitive skin may develop pimples or whiteheads.

How does dermaplaning treat and improve skin?

Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells and blemishes from the outermost layer of skin, helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and dark spots.

Does it matter who performs my dermaplaning treatment?

Dermaplaning is most effective — and, of course, safest — when provided by an experienced, trained individual with a delicate touch and sharp eye. At Sambursky Esthetics, our skincare experts deliver smooth, even results by removing just enough dead skin to leave the skin not irritated, but fully refreshed.
